SnapList ("we," "us," or "our") operates the SnapList mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Voice Recordings

  • We collect voice recordings when you use the voice input feature to create grocery lists
  • Voice data is processed through Apple's on-device Speech Recognition and our AI services
  • Voice recordings are used solely to extract grocery items and are not stored permanently

Photos and Images

  • Photos you take or select from your library (shopping lists, receipts, grocery photos, pantry images)
  • Images are processed by our AI service (Google Gemini via OpenRouter) to extract grocery items
  • Photos may be stored temporarily in our cloud storage (Supabase) for processing

Grocery List Data

  • Items you add to your grocery lists (item names, categories, quantities)
  • Completion status of items
  • User preferences and corrections you make to improve AI accuracy

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Device Information

  • Device identifier (UUID) used to create your account without requiring sign-up
  • Device model and operating system version
  • App usage patterns and timestamps

AI Usage Data

  • AI model interactions (input/output token counts)
  • Feature usage (voice processing, image processing)
  • Credit balance and usage tracking

Analytics & Advertising Data

  • Google AdMob collects data to serve personalized advertisements (see Section 5)
  • SKAdNetwork data for ad attribution

1.3 Information from Third Parties

Purchase Information

  • Subscription status via RevenueCat
  • Transaction history for premium features
  • No payment card details are stored by us (handled by Apple)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide Core Services: Process voice and image inputs to create grocery lists
  • Personalize Experience: Learn from your corrections to improve AI accuracy for your preferences
  • Sync Data: Store and sync your grocery lists across sessions via cloud backup
  • Manage Subscriptions: Process premium subscriptions and manage credit balances
  • Serve Advertisements: Display ads to free-tier users (via Google AdMob)
  • Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and fix bugs
  • Customer Support: Respond to inquiries and troubleshoot issues

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Where Your Data is Stored

  • Local Storage: Grocery lists and preferences are stored on your device using SwiftData
  • Cloud Storage: Data is backed up to Supabase (PostgreSQL database hosted on secure servers)
  • Third-Party Services: RevenueCat (subscription management), Google AdMob (advertising), OpenRouter/Google (AI processing)

3.2 Security Measures

  • All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
  • API keys and tokens are securely stored
  • Row Level Security (RLS) policies protect database access
  • No passwords are stored (device-based authentication)

3.3 Data Retention

  • Voice recordings: Processed in real-time, not permanently stored
  • Photos: Temporarily stored during processing, then deleted
  • Grocery lists: Retained until you delete them
  • User preferences: Retained to improve your experience
  • AI usage logs: Retained for billing and analytics purposes

5. Advertising

Free Tier Users

The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:

  • Device identifiers
  • IP address
  • App usage data
  • Ad interaction data

Premium Users

Premium subscribers do not see advertisements.

Opt-Out Options

You can limit ad tracking through your device settings:

  • iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking > Disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Access and Deletion

  • View Your Data: Your grocery lists and preferences are visible within the App
  • Delete Your Data: You can delete individual items, clear your grocery list, or delete learned preferences

6.2 Device Permissions

You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings:

  • Microphone: Required for voice input
  • Camera: Required for taking photos of lists
  • Photo Library: Required for selecting existing images
  • Speech Recognition: Required for voice-to-text conversion

Disabling permissions will limit corresponding features.

6.3 California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected
  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)

6.4 European Users (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have rights to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Request erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Data portability

  • Posting the new policy in the App
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date
